Family Medicine Residency

FAQ

What are the USMLE/COMLEX requirements?

USMLE or COMLEX transcript are required as part of your ERAS application.

  • USMLE/COMLEX 1: Prefer passage by the second attempt
  • USMLE/COMLEX 2: We do not have a cutoff score

Our program reviews applications in a holistic model, considering exam scores in conjunction with other criteria such as grades and honor indications, faculty evaluations, and letters of recommendation. Test scores are viewed as approximate rather than exact measures of medical knowledge and thus the above range has a higher probability for eligibility.

What are graduation date requirements?

We prefer candidates who are currently fourth year medical students, or who have graduated no later than 2022 (within 3 years directly prior to residency beginning).

Do you offer audition rotations to medical students or medical graduates?

While we cannot financially sponsor medical students in any way to visit our campus, including travel or housing, if you are interested in an elective rotation during your third or fourth year of medical school, you may email: [email protected]. We are not currently set up in the VSLO system.

At this time we cannot accept post-graduates for extern, observation or audition rotations.

Do you require applicants to have US clinical experience, externship or observership?

We require all applicants to have US clinical experience.

Do you sponsor visas?

We have limited capacity to sponsor J1 visas this season.
